DE ROSA 2020: A NEW DESIGN FOR OUR HEART.

21st of June. The first day of summer corresponds to a new chapter of the history of De Rosa, marking the introduction of a new logo. From the story of De Rosa and the expert hand of the designer Pininfarina comes a new logo for the Bikes with the heart, the new identity that will accompany De Rosa and all its project in the years to come. A logo that respects the great tradition, the heritage and the story of De Rosa, reflecting the brand’s Italian soul and looking at the future with enthusiasm.

On Friday 21st of June in Milan, Cristiano De Rosa introduced the first 3 products of the 2020 range, the first products with the new heart: the SK Pininfarina, the second edition of the product launched in 2015, the Merak and the new Idol.

THE NEW LOGO.

The new logo is the result of the exchange of ideas between the experts of two Made in Italy icons and represents the perfect synthesis between the glorious past of the company, born in Milan more than 60 years ago, and the idea of keep going ahead of time in the future, a value that has always been one of the brand main characteristics. From the stylish point of view, the logo retains the strong character typical of De Rosa, but shapes are re-interpreted with a more modern design.
The typeface used has an accelerated character where the elongated shapes suggest a fast, horizontal movement. The style of the logo is the key for interpreting the journey of the company and is expressed by the solidity of the lettering that is more and more dynamic, fast and open to the future. The main innovation is anyway the new shape of the heart that is almost “engineered” by exploiting the proportion between the circular elements of the bike so as to become the pulsating element of absolute stylistic and technological perfection.
“For us, working on a brand means working on the soul of the company” Paolo Pininfarina, president of the group, says. “Within De Rosa we found such a commonality of values and vision – materialized into the huge success of SK Pininfarina – that we are glad to consolidate the partnership with this new model and to start imagining together the future scenery of development”.

Cristiano De Rosa explains the choice and traces the path for the future growth of the company based in Cusano Milanino: “A strong growth, epoch-making for our brand, born from the willing of combining the futuristic vision of our bikes with the logo that represents us. We had to come to terms with an important matter: our modern, light, performative, aerodynamic products were any longer supported by their logo. At the same time, we are aware of the story and the tradition that our logo and our heart carry out in the tradition of Italian cycling. . This lead us, De Rosa family, to make a choice with our hearts, so we started the creation of a new logo, together with the Pininfarina designers, that could reflect the vision of our products, while respecting the story that identifies us.
I want to thank Paolo Pininfarina and all the Pininfarina design center that have fully understood and valorized in the best way the tradition of De Rosa projecting it into the future.
The vintage futurism is the concept that inspired us. Heritage and dynamism. Those are indeed the values that we took as inspiration for the creation of the new De Rosa logo, with the intention of conveying the future of the brand without ever forgetting its past and its history. I have the fullest respect for everything related to the past and this represents for me a real cultural value for the company, but it is only the basis for the future development of De Rosa, a future where the product and the brand – intended as logo – speak the same language”.

THE NEW SK PININFARINA

Cristiano De Rosa e Paolo Pininfarina presents the new SK Pininfarina.
De Rosa SK Pininfarina is a project launched in 2015 from two Italian icons that have marked the story of Italian cycling and design: De Rosa and Pininfarina.
The second generation of the Pininfarina SK is the aerodynamic bike by De Rosa. With Carbon frame, 8 sizes available and flat geometry, the new Pininfarina SK looks alike the previous model but is conceptually different in its content.

Innovations in the new SK Pininfarina.

More aerodynamic design: flat horizontal tube, seat tube with wing reduced by the 20%, greatest performance.
To improve the penetration or Cx performance, De Rosa undertook a series of frame modification, so as to make it the most performative among the De Rosa line. The new SK Pininfarina has a frame with flat top tube that has been reduced and made flatter if compared with the previous one. The seat tube has been slightly resized for what concerns the “fin”, reduced by the 20%. The robust rear seat stay allows the bike to be performative and fast.
Entirely integrated wiring: The entirely integrated wiring inside the steering tube and the redesigned fork guarantee the greatest air penetration that is transformed into a better CX performance.
Lightness: Aerodynamism but lightness, as well. The polished frame of the new SK Pininfarina weights 950 gr in its medium size.

MERAK.

Merak represents De Rosa racing soul, competitive and winning. Merak has been the model that won the Plouay world championship in 2000 and that in 2020, 20 years later, is coming back in De Rosa products range to represent the big innovation at the performance level.
With the carbon frame, Merak is suitable for all kinds of itinerary and ready for every challenge, from the highest competition to the more demanding Granfondo.

Lightness and production technology: Thanks to its weight of only 800 gr, it is the new De Rosa top-of-the-range for what concerns lightness. Its reduced weight combined with a high quality are the result of the innovative EPS production technology
Integrated wiring: Wiring is completely inside the steering tube. Therefore, in the disk version, any shift, brake or derailleur wires are visible.

THE NEW IDOL.

“Formally”, Idol is the bicycle of the De Rosa medium range, the most important in terms of value. However, the new Idol is “technically” closer to the top-range in terms of design, lightness and performance. With the arrival of the New Idol, there’s only one thing that keep it in the present market range: price.

GIRO D’ITALIA, TOUR OF CALIFORNIA AND TOUR OF JAPAN: A MONTH OF PRESTIGIOUS APPOINTMENTS FOR TEAM DE ROSA.

A month of highly prestigious events. A month in which the Cuore Rosso bikes made in Cusano Milanino will be the protagonists of 3 great tours on 3 different continents. A month in which the De Rosa teams will be looking for important results to be able to leave their mark in the 2019 cycling season. This is just a hint of what awaits us in May, which has always been considered by cycling fans, Italians and not , as the most important period of the year.
In addition to the Giro d’Italia, where De Rosa will participate with 2 of its 3 professional teams, our bikes will be featured in the Tour of California, the highest race in the American continent, and the Tour of Japan. To this is added the De Rosa e-bike team, which will participate with the new born De Rosa E-Road at the Giro E.

GIRO D’ITALIA | 11 MAY – 2 JUNE
Considered by many the most beautiful stage race of the cycling season, De Rosa will also be the absolute protagonist of the Giro d’Italia for 2019. Two De Rosa teams that will start from Bologna Saturday 11 May: the NIPPO Vini Fantini Faizanè team and the Israel Cycling Academy team. For the Italian-Japanese team this is the third participation in the Rosa race, while for the Israeli team this is the second consecutive participation.
Both teams will race with the made in Cusano Milanino bikes, choosing the model that more than other reflects their own characteristics. We will see on the roads of the tour the PROTOS chosen by the finisseurs of the two teams, the SK Pininfarina for the sprinters and the KING for those who want to be protagonists on the most important climbs foreseen in the course.

For the first time in 2019 there will be a third De Rosa team to participate in a stage race on Italian roads. This is the De Rosa E-Bike team that will participate in the Giro E scheduled on the same dates and destinations touched by Giro d’Italia. Obviously the riders of this team will ride with the new born De Rosa E-Road, the assisted bikes with a presented in the last edition of the Gran Fondo Florence.

TOUR OF CALIFORNIA | 12 MAY – 18 MAY
From Europe to America for another extremely prestigious stage race, the most important in overseas territory. At the Tour of California, the stage race on the World Tour calendar, the De Rosa bikes will be the protagonists with the Israel Cycling Academy Team that received the Wild Card in this 2019 to participate in this round. With a well-balanced line-up, the team will try in every way to become the protagonist and seek victory.

TOUR OF JAPAN | 19 MAY – 26 MAY
A third continent will see the Cuore Rosso bikes as protagonists in May. This is Asia and specifically the Tour of Japan, the stage race that in recent years has seen the De Rosa teams play a leading role with their leaders. Also in 2019 the home team will be the NIPPO Vini Fantini Faizanè to try to achieve the maximum result by aiming for stage victories as well as special jerseys.

Florence lights up with the seventh edition of the Gran Fondo De Rosa, the race scheduled for Sunday, April 14 and which will close a real weekend of sport in the heart of the Tuscan capital. From Friday 12 to Sunday 14 April the city will be literally invaded by bicycles and by all those who will participate in the Florence Bike Festival, of which the Gran Fondo represents the flagship event. With its two routes of 95 and 131 km, up and down the mountains of Mugello, starting from Piazzale Michelangelo and arriving on the ascent of Via Salviati, it represents one of the most prestigious and beautiful amateur races in the Italian panorama.

THE WEEKEND PROGRAM
Opening Friday 12th April at 2pm with the opening of the FBF Village at the Parco delle Cascine. At 7.00 pm the DeRosa GranFondo Florence 2019 officially opens with the inaugural party in the FOOO OnBike bike cafe in Viale Spartaco Lavagnini 70/72, inside the Student Hotel near to the Florence bike festival headquarters to the farmsteads park !

On Saturday 13 the great two-wheeled village will come to life at the Parco delle Cascine, headquarters of the Florence Bike Festival. From the latest smart e-bike models to the vintage genre, up to the new phenomena like the Gravel Bike, passing by the latest models of the De Rosa production, the bike will be the protagonist “in all its forms”, with the active presence of the main brands of the sector and the collaboration of associations of enthusiasts and volunteers, expression of the Florentine and Tuscan territory.

Sunday 14 is the most awaited event, with the De Rosa Granfondo Firenze: start in piazzale Michelangelo, with over 3 thousand riders expected from all over Italy for one of the most emotionally impacting races in the granfondo panorama.

Not just a party, but also a message to the city and to the community of cyclists on the subject of road safety: the official Granfondo jersey this year will have printed the symbol of the minimum distance to be kept in the road compared to cyclists, while some of the main active associations in the sector will be present all weekend at the Cascine to do information and awareness.

The cycling season starts to get underway. In the months of March and April there are many prestigious appointments in which the teams that ride on the Cuore Rosso bikes will participate, in search of important results. The girls of the BePink team in 2019 will ride De Rosa bikes.

The historic brand of Cusano Milanino will accompany the italian team, led by Team Manager Walter Zini, in the main events on the international and national calendar. The riders of the team will ride on 2 different models: PROTOS for normal race and TT-03 durign the time trial race.

MODELS AND COMPONENTS
The timeless elegance of black, embellished with electric blue and white inserts, will characterize the frame of the PROTOS BePink Special Edition, adding a scathing note to the confirmed blue-magenta look of the #pinkladies. On the other hand, black mat shades for the TT-03 time trial. Each De Rosa PROTOS will be equipped with Shimano, Selle Repente, Deda 35 handlebar and stems from Deda Elementi, Deda Elementi wheels – in the SL45, SL30 versions -, Schwalbe tires and Elite bottle cage. In addition, the TT-03 will be fitted with Deda Elementi SL88 and SL Hero wheels and Tribar and Fast Black 2 handlebars, also by Deda Elementi.

Israel Cycling Academy and De Rosa Partnership extended for another season. On 2019 season the riders of the team will ride the bike made in Cusano Milanino. Cristiano De Rosa: “ICA is the most important team for us”. ICA’s Sylvan Adams: “De Rosa are not our sponsor – they are family”

DESIGN AND MODELS
The main bike model will also be for the 2019 PROTOS, which represents the racing character of the Italian brand, with some improvements of the frame, now lighter and stiffer, with a i-modular carbon fiber saddle. “The Protos 2019 model is definitely the best product in our history, we have been working on it for two years and now it’s finally a reality” Cristiano De Rosa admits.
As for the NIPPO Vini Fantini Faizanè team, also the PROTOS supplied to the Israel Cycling Academy will be characterized by an exclusive touch that makes it unique: the team logo will be engraved on the top frame with 3D lettering.
ICA riders will also use other 2 types of De Rosa models: sprinters will often use the Aero SK Pininfarina, in the blue color, and the TT-03 model for the time trials.

For the second year in a row, De Rosa will be the company in charge of providing bicycles to the professional and amateur teams of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA for the new season.

THE PROTOS MODEL

All the cyclists will ride with De Rosa Protos model, with two units for each one: green for the competition and black for training. It should be noted that Nelson Soto and Matteo Malucelli will use disc brakes, both thinking in the sprints. The rest of the roster will ride with traditional brakes.

Each rider will have the latest technology in the other components to complete the perfection of a machine like the De Rosa Protos: Miche Supertype wheels with Vittoria Corsa 25 tires, Deda Zero 100 powers and handlebars, KMC X11 SL Gold chains and Repente saddles in the Aleena 4.0 and Comptus 4.0 models, according to the needs of each member of the team.

The NIPPO Vini Fantini Faizanè team will keep riding on De Rosa bikes in 2019 and specifically on 4 models, deriving from 3 different bike frame, depending on the most congenial characteristics of each #OrangeBlue athlete. For 2019, a special design, with a white color designed to stand out in the group, combined with the #OrangeBlue jersey.

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY.
“The color choice was made in honor of NIPPO Corporation, while the “scratch” given to the frame with the inserts Orange, Blue, and light blue, are in honor of the social colors of the team and the new third name” – this is explained by the CEO of Cusano Milanino’s brand, Cristiano De Rosa“For the fifth consecutive season at the Professional level and for the seventh consecutive season in absolute terms our bikes will be the one of the Italian-Japanese team with NIPPO Vini Fantini Faizané. We have “dressed” them in white to celebrate this marriage. In fact, we wanted to dedicate a color to the team’s best Japanese partner, NIPPO Corporation, who has always been present on the team’s shirt on a white background. The OrangeBlue scratch reflects the colors of the team, with the blue that is a tribute to the other great historical partner of the team: Vini Fantini. The addition of the light blue was made in honor of an equally important new partner that guarantees continuity to the project, the brand Faizanè”. Cristiano explained also the technical innovation for the season 2019: “Beyond the colors, the two most important innovations are represented by the 12-speed Campagnolo Super Record gearbox and the introduction of the disc brake models on Protos frames and on the Pininfarina SK frames.”

THE TOP OF THE DE ROSA RANGE FOR THE TEAM.
There will be 4 models supplied to the team, based on the 3 top range frames of the Cusano Milanino brand. The main racing model will remain the PROTOS, which from 2019 will also be available in the Disk version, with the introduction of disc brakes.
The SK Pininfarina Disk model is also available for the team’s athletes, while for the pure climbers the supplied bike will be the KING model.
All bikes will be equipped with Campagnolo Super Record 12v, Selle Italia (in the SLR, Flite and SP-01 Boost models), Bora Ultra wheels, IRC Tire tires, FSA handlebars and look pedals and power2max as power meter.

Juan Josè Lobato wins the Coppa Sabatini reaching his first victory with the #OrangeBlue jersey and his 15th personal victory in career.
